Modern Decorative Mirrors

With modern home interior, the presence of mirror seems inevitable to include. It is much simpler than classic looking mirrors. A lot of them do not have frames and those that have still look plain. But just like any art deco, no matter how simple it is made, it still looks catchy and classy. In fact decorative mirrors are most seen now in the interior of the house than wall painting.

Classic Decorative Mirrors

Even to-date, designers opt to antique if not classic looking mirrors that will serve as wall art in a room just like how wall painting is used. This of course depends on the overall theme and interior design of the house or the room.

Mirror as Decorative Art

Mirrors serve several purposes which prime among these is that we see ourselves when we look at them. With mirrors, we fix our external appearance. This is why a mirror is considered as one vital in a room. It is not only in the bathroom or in our walk-in -closet we see them hanging but wherever we glance in the house usually set is a mirror. From then, we expect these reflective glasses to be very decorative to match or accentuate the color or theme of the room. We see wall painting in one end and a mirror on the other side. Mirrors even long before had already served a purpose as that of a wall art.

Floor Tile Murals

Another mural that looks good whether it is set in commercial space or in the interior of the house is floor tile murals but mostly we see this kind in the hallway or lobby of big establishment. Sometimes, floor murals speak of something like business logos or historical landmarks. For decorative purposes, they are sometimes matched with wall painting

Wall Tile Murals

Wall tile murals are catchy. Just imagine a plain wall with ceramic tiles on them and surely it can be mistaken for a bathroom wall. Wall tile murals are seen in our homes as well as in commercial space. This is an alternative to framed wall painting or other wall decorations that are typically hanging on our walls.

Home Murals

House interior design is becoming bolder and this applies even to interior that follows minimalism. Some have simple furniture and less artwork around but a mural to cover a big space of the room’s wall. If this is the case, expect the mural to be plain decorative and not just merely an expression of the artist.

Decorative wall painting which color is made sure to match the overall tone of the interior to include wall and furniture is usually seen in well interior-decorated house as opposed to bold murals that are far from what is served to be aesthetics in the art gallery or in the artist’s pad a.k.a studio.

Commercial Murals

Murals are most seen in commercial space. These are not wall graffiti artworks that most of the time serve a purpose solely for self-expression but also are decorative just like that of the ones that put you to awe when you visit your friend’s well -interior designed house but these ones may also speak of the general theme of the business. They look like wall painting only they are not framed but they are directly painted on the wall.

Nursery Murals

People are becoming more aware that art is opposite to being decorative. And because it is an expression of what is in the subconscious, most of the time it is hard to understand. But this does not mean that art is a deviation from what is aesthetics.

Art is still art. The combination of color or the choice of color palette and its style can be very pleasing to the eye if the artist just chose to. ‘Say decorative wall painting. Most of the time, they are in the form of a mural or if not in just a regular painting framed to hang on the wall.

We have seen lots of framed decorative wall painting when we visit friends in their homes. But most of the time, we see murals in children’s bedroom and nursery rooms. They are made to be colorful without the concept of matching colors. Any color will do as long as it should be vividly seen against the color of the wall. Anyway, kids love colors.

Zen Interior

We know what to expect if the house we will visit is Zen-inspired. It will not just make us comfortable but truly relaxing. It feels like whatever mess we throw in there will not make the interior of the house look filthy. Aside from it followed minimalism in design, the overall color just appears to us to be cool and pure. It is plain, simple yet elegant and don’t forget the look of it that is very expensive. Because for the interior to perfectly look like Zen-inspired, matching furniture and art decors should be set in place. And yes, they are the modern Asian art.

Zen Architectural Beauty

Another eclectic architectural house design that goes along with its interior, furniture, and wall art is Zen from Japan. Who would not want a pretty clean looking ambiance Zen exudes? Japan is famous with its Zen relaxing pond and garden. And its houses capture the artistic eye of the people. A Zen garden is truly an wall painting and will not match an Italian- inspired house or other house designs. This is why Japan’s kind of house is adopted anywhere in and out Asia.

Art Deco House of Today and Yesterday

Circa age of innocence or age of non-existence for the generation today was a fascination to grand or most of the time art deco classic houses. The houses were very modern during its peak of fame centuries ago and its style is remembered and carried over nowadays when houses of plain geometric in design is the more sought of among other house architectural designs. It looks simple, modern, and easy to maintain.

Classic Art Deco Houses

Modern Art Deco Houses

From Classic to modern Art Deco

From classic and antique art deco come the modern ones. Eclectic geometric shaped-inspired are still retained but are more modified to a simpler design to suit the t contemporary design of minimalism. As we say, less is more. Good that I got good finds over indefatigably browsing the net. And yes looking at a room that is not busy-looking but simple yet elegant is drooling.

Art Deco

One of the classic arts that I find so feminine in its eclectic lavish design is Deco Art in Paris. Just the thought of its origin which is a home to fashion posh labels, we know what to expect of art deco but glamour. From building architecture to interior details, the style is not just plain and simple. However, modern art adopted art deco making it fit what is contemporary art of today. And prior to delving what’s new, I better dwell first on the classic.

Artist Standing Out

I find out that artists need publicity for his works to be known. I visited one of the exhibits in the country a few days ago and saw a few numbers of artists among hundreds of thousands or maybe to millions residing in the Philippines. I checked out their works and almost all are equally impressive but only a few are known.

The country, I guess, is full of artistic people and rising above among the many people who share the same gift is more than challenging but difficult. I wonder what makes an artist stand out among the rest. An artist backed up with publicity and advertisement surely will be a hit. These are artists that are managed well and funded by a team, a group or a network like an actor in one local channel. But there are also who are unseen for long and accidentally hit the limelight in a snap. Most of the time character, reputation, and most of all personality of the artist is a great contributor to his fame. An image or reputation-building for the sake of publicity does not work at all as much those who are born with unique qualities. X-factor as how we call it plays a major role on how others see a person. It is the catchy personality or appeal that no one can explain where it is coming from. Or in some cases, the person’s or artist’s prevailing situation accidentally brings him to fame.

In such place like this where artistic talents and creativity are common to people, the above-mentioned factors can make an individual superior to others when it comes to success. Or probably, there are just people that are destined to make a statement and leave a legacy which is not just limited to artistry but to whatever field a person can engage himself into.

Herald Our Living Artists

Artists should be well-appreciated while they are alive. They deserve genuine and sincere compliment. Not all people can paint. Not all have the gifted hands to actualize their thoughts. Not all human beings have such imaginative minds to escape the cruelty of life in the comforts of their homes. Then why wait for them to travel to heaven or space before getting recognized?

Most of the artists like painters get recognition after death. Maybe part of eulogy is to mention all the good qualities of the person who is dead and part of remembering his life on earth is to treasure his artworks along with his photos until such time that people who are not just connected to the artist but those who are connected to his loved ones do the same. To come up with one art piece, the artist needs one hell or heaven of experience that will serve as an inspiration.

Aside from skill to do the piece, it takes much outpour of emotion for an artist from the beginning of his work till finish. They are the ones more than anyone else who work from emotion which makes other factors like skills and knowledge secondary when we speak of importance.

Artists most especially painters should be given a lot of opportunities for exposure. People should be encouraged to give these art pieces a second look. For now, it is only the minority who received proper education who are appreciative of art. Online exposure of these arts and artists will definitely give them a break. This is because internet is widely used not by minority but all people from all walks of life.

Your Choice of Wall Art

Wall art is one item in the house that should be well thought of or well-chosen before setting it up on a wall. Shopping around and imagining on how each desired wall art would look like in your house is not a bad idea at all instead of getting excited to grab your first find. There are plenty that you will see in the mall or even online.

Better study first your interior’s color palette to know what colors will accent your wall and your furniture. Check out for the design or the emotion the artwork conveys before you decide which one to get. Its genre or its overall feel should well speak of you. Your wall arts in the room do not have to be similar in color. Any will do as long as it will look good when set against the color of your wall. And another thing that one has to know prior to buying is to look around the room first and see where what part of the house or where in the vastness of your wall should you place your wall art. From there, you’d know the color, design, and most important of all is its size. You will not like it when an album- sized portrait is set in a wide high wall and so are your visitors, we bet, will not appreciate.

Once you have your perfect choice, avoid hanging you wall art too high as if you want it set in the ceiling. It should be eye level or just a little above. Wall art most especially if you think of getting wall paintings might cost you arm and leg so it is best to get one that is well-thought of.

Our old folks home decors

Moms do not just think of furniture and appliances. They make sure that along with these home items are figurines or other artworks which primarily are wall decors or wall paintings. Despite the new trend of going minimal in interior design, moms and our old folks still find it hard to discard their addiction of busy look in the house.

We see typical house that are not too modern in style and design and find our moms’ usual type of making the house looks so busy where it seems that all artworks and figurines that have been collected since time immemorial are still in display. They do not just find them beautiful but of sentimental values. Some were gifts by those people they met in their lifetime while the rest are their personal collections from wandering around to different destinations. Instead of keeping them in the attic, they prefer it more in the open and introduce each along with their historical background and some memories that are attached to it to all those who are visiting their house. So in the world where fad is ‘less is more’, its takes a huge amount of free will for our old folks to give up its usual concept of interior design to pave way to what is deemed modern nowadays.

These figurines and other wall arts may be becoming a home to dust and mosquitoes or these maybe outmoded but no one can blame anyone who gets attached to artworks because these do not just beautify our homes but definitely they bring back memories.

Our Home Wall

Moms love wall arts. A house seems so bare with empty walls most especially during those times that giving our wall a splash of color seemed unusual. Yes, we remember typical houses of cream or white painted wall. And this would not give the house a homey look without wall decors. Some could be painting while others were picture frame.

Good thing today that interior design is now welcoming different blends of color palettes at home. When before color palettes only applied to furniture and home accessories, nowadays, those are just used to accent or contrast the main color of the room which can be identified by looking at its wall. Wall color can now be anything from turquoise to bright colors like orange and yellow. In fact because of its striking or catchy color, a room can still look very attractive and stylish without wall art. Other accessories like throw pillows or candle holders serve as essential decors already, ‘say a rich cream sofa with different shades of orange throw pillows and a tall bronze candle holders all set against a yellow wall is enough to look stylish and surely pleasing to the eye. But those who want a busy look in one corner can put a vertical abstract wall painting with touch of orange set above a tall bronze corner table with red-orange candles and average- sized gold balls set atop. This will look very busy and colorful yet extremely fashionable.

Choices of wall color usually reflect the personality of the woman in the house. She might not go beyond what is known as typical like neutral colors. This best suits a classic mom, elegant and sophisticated but possesses an inhibition to deviate a bit from the norm.

Art And Its Value

Wall painting talks about the artist’s emotion and what he feels about a certain issue in his environment. What is remarkable is that no content of writing is used to convey thoughts and feelings but all graphics. These are shapes, strokes, and color combined. No artwork is conceptualized based from what is the price going to be when sold. Art piece like painting is tagged with price relevant on how the artist sees its value.

What makes an artwork like painting expensive? Be it as a masterpiece of a pro or an amateur, definitely it is never mass produced. Thus, such art piece where an artist pours so much emotion to it which feelings came from personal experience or experience that he can so much relate to, and such art piece which his creative juices flow continuously to give that one piece a unique touch will soon be handed over to his new owner. An artist can give his unique piece which he deems very valuable for free to a person he loves or to someone he thinks important in his life. Otherwise, the painting can be for sale but only if bought for a high price.

Those who can understand art know the value of an artwork to his creator. But the sad fact over here is that there are only few among the population who understand such thing. Most of the time, wall decors that can even amount to thousands of dollars are even preferred than wall paintings only because the majority only sees the surface or the external appearance of an artwork. They are not capable of looking at what is beyond. It is best for the majority to get exposed to art like wall painting to appreciate what innate talent can do to a person. Artwork will then serve as inspiration to parents and children to hone the talent inborn to individual that later on will make them famous and successful.

Artist for Life

The work of an artist is cool. This is because they make so much use of the talent innate to them as a hobby and as a past time while earning from it. A singer who is not a dancer will not dance as a career and vice-versa just like a painter paints and does not sculpt. Meaning to say, whatever they are born to do is what they do exactly.

Each has a unique talent that can be used to succeed financially and to inspire people. Such talent should not be discovered later on in life because inborn talent already shows in the early stage of one’s childhood. If only parents would stick to what they see from the beginning and from there the child is molded of what he or she is supposed to become when he or she grows up, then no education and career path taken should be wasted.

If the person pursues what he is destined to become, there will be no question about success. If he tries something else, he has to start from scratch to learn. He can be successful in his new acquired knowledge but there is nothing satisfying with making a living out of something you enjoyed doing since childhood. A child who is entertaining his family with talents like dancing or singing or wall painting is exciting to know that later on in life such activities will make her popular and successful. And this is what artist does. He pursues what he is excellent at since the beginning.

Culture in Art

Asian art can be considered as an epitome of artistry. Its variety that comes from different genres and forms is remarkable that makes it sought by art lovers. Talk about art pieces as a category of a subject and one can speak endlessly about it from its numerous subcategories coming from extreme corners of the continent. This is because Asia is rich in culture.

Art is culture enriched. Without enough background on the vestiges of the past of a certain country, an artist is blind to represent his origin. A talented artist can reflect his personal preference and knowledge on his artwork. Without much knowledge on its roots, he can paint what he sees in his dreams or what he imagines but as he is progresses and becomes a national icon, he is expected then to voice out his thoughts of his national original through his creations. Wall paintings can easily introduce his creator just by looking at its theme and overall look. You see art deco and you can trace its French origin just like attributing garden with ponds plus a pagoda or temple to be Asian.

Asia is not just a big continent but it is a home to different races. Each is known for remarkable culture and tradition which to-date is being celebrated. America and Europe may be big but their people share a couple or more similar traditions as opposed to Asia where culture is diverse from one another.
Set your foot amid the grounds of the Philippines and notice its art pieces to be made of wood or rattan or abaca and its wall paintings to be more of urban setting of farming and fishing in genre to depict the lifestyle of the residents prior to modernization. Fly in less than an hour away to experience China where left and right the roads are jade and clay pots. Not to mention that Middle East art pieces feature sands and palm trees. Floor carpet and wall décor are two of their art works and most of the time these are not complete without camels in the background. These are just few of the many themes of artist creations when they speak of Asia, its people, and its culture.

Asian art incontestably captures the heart of artists and art collectors alike. Just one stop to Asia and surely they have a complete collection of memorabilia that tell a story of each place they visit. Just one art work from each Asian country and you can tell what they went through and what made them now. Diversity in culture is what this continent is known for and so are the art works to represent each history.

Asian Art Online

While browsing the net, I came across a website that solely covers on Asian Art. I thought it was worth my time to spend a few more minutes looking at the content. And yes, I noticed that it is more of wall paintings than any other form of arts like sculpture, etc. Despite that it focuses on one form of art only I still did not find the site boring, after all the site features Asian painting collections.

Thus, expect its genre and design to be diverse. Looking at those wall paintings in the site gallery just made me ponder on the diversity of the culture of the continent. Asia as the western always say is culture-enriched. Travelers use to come and go here to explore the culture in each destination. Loving Asia is loving the diverse heritage of its people which artwork excellently represents. Artwork or say wall painting is a mirror of one's roots. You can tell an art piece to be far from being Asian when you see train in the background with a cowboy in his horse on the side. You know it well then that the painting is of western origin. Or if a frame is more of art deco, chances are it is European. Asian art, as I am expecting it to be, shows more rural lifestyle like fishing, farming, and harvesting crops. Or if not, it talks so much about nature like lush green with budding flowers, the sky, birds, or animal which huge population which makes it distinct or identifying character of one country like elephant of India.

Well yes, I saw my expectation on that Asian art website. However, I will not say there are plenty of these artworks that say so much of their country’s culture. This is maybe because gone were the days of too much patriotism to ones country. Even the artists have joined the fad of globalization. That is logical, actually. Paint something that all people from all walks of life can relate to. Paint something about life in general without thinking too much of promoting one’s origin most especially if your art pieces will be showcased via the internet where you market the entire globe. Artists of this generation can derive their inspiration from global events and the life in it in general or just simply work from their emotions. Anyway, emotion is universal. Whatever you are feeling, surely there are billions of people across the earth who can relate to you and to your artwork.

Beyond what is so-called beauty

I find art more than what others call beauty. The silent expression it gives is a reflection of not just the artist’s emotion but its interpretation also depends on the underlying emotion of its audience. The one who has a perfect eye for beauty may find a particular art not pleasing to the eye if she would not look beyond the surface.

I, myself, am guilty of rejecting one. I could even think of it as waste of time to look at. I still had to do a lot of mind-setting to appreciate this artwork or at least ponder on the effort exerted by their creators just for me to like their work. To my surprise, for the second time I accidentally saw this art piece once again. The feeling I had for it before has totally changed. It felt like listening to the rain drops or enjoying the smell of a familiar scent that is giving back so much memory. I took a second look and checked if the artwork has been modified. And yes, I knew it. I was so sure that I was looking at the same piece which for me a long time ago was nothing but trash.

Nothing made the artwork different. It was me who changed! People change. Why? Society molds you to change. Knowledge, education, information are contributors of change. But more than anything, experience change people where experience is the foundation of emotion. To-date I am still wondering what made me feel so much attached to that artwork which I know I cannot have anymore. How in heaven would I have it when for the second time again I saw it, it was so proud looking down at me from the marble wall of the luxurious hotel it was set!

Just a wild guess upon the sight of such high-valued wall painting, I think I have emotional attachment to it because it brings back not childhood days but innocence. It was a period when all my eyes deemed beautiful are nothing but everything shallow. I would probably like it if and only if the frame was filled with ribbons and glitters.

Just like everyone else who turns to adulthood, I can now find beauty in trash. Wall painting that shows not just simplicity but poverty to depict what is going on within the society are very meaningful more than flowers and gardens. Then that is exactly how I learned appreciating art pieces more than finding beauty in its appearance. Its appreciation depends on the artist’s emotion connecting to the feeling of its audience.
